Parallels and windows 8 release preview

If you are working on Parallels Desktop on a Mac and want to tryout Windows 8, you can use Parallels to do all the work for you. Windows 8 Release Preview can be downloaded from inside Parallels directly and then configured and isntalled as usual. With some of the most radical changes that an operating system could go through, Window 8 is one of the most highly anticipated software releases of this year. From the Metro interface to the unification of platforms in to one, Microsoft really is taking a giant leap in terms of design and user experience.

The Parallels update puts the ability to download and install Windows 8 Release Preview from inside the software. There you will see the option to download and install Windows 8. Click on it and follow the wizard through each step. However, it is quite usable on the default settings. If so, how do I buy an activation key? I've been round and round on the Microsoft Website, but I can't for the life of me find anywhere willing to sell me the Product Key.

It was a caveat of the full preview install that you may not be able to retain programs when migrating to the final release. You would need to buy the full product for electronic delivery from the Windows Store. There is some guidance here.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Perhaps there's a different way which I haven't found yet. All the support on the Microsoft Website seems to concern Upgrades and not fresh installs. Any suggestions appreciated.
