Windows 7 appdata read only

Thanks a lot in advance. Joined Jul 29, Messages 21, Leave the system folders alone. What is your reasoning for making it read only, Crypto virus? No viruses. But is there harm done by having the contents of appdata folder not be read only? I have no intention to mess with these things again.

Application can save data on it, without Admin privileges not like "ProgramData". Can you suggest an appropriate folder, or better use the Registry?
